STYLE GURU BIO: Nathalie Nguyen

I believe fashion is what you choose it to be, and this semester, I want it to translate a message—you can say anything you want with it. In a way, style should speak for itself. Harry Winston once said, “People will stare. Make it worth their while.”

The way you dress says a lot about who you are. Ladies and gentlemen, style is eternal, but it’s also a personality. As a fall Style Guru, I hope to cater to translating millions of styles worn by stylish students on campus. I believe all of them in the most part say: this is me.

You might be wondering why I’m into fashion? I guess I’m still trying to figure where exactly I want to head in life. I’m a freshman at George Washington University with an undecided major, but I’ve always loved art and writing. Ever since my elementary school days, I loved designing clothes, but recently I lost touch with fashion. I’ve never really been one to follow on all the trends, but I genuinely hope all this attention on fashion will help me rekindle something that I was previously passionate about.

When it comes to style, mine is versatile. On my lazy days, I’m a fashion terrorist, sporting sweats and bright colored shirts. Let’s be honest: no look is more comfortable than sweat pants and a plain tee. You have to look good on some days, though. A simple tank top, anything with leather and jeans are a must-have for me. Dark colors, snapbacks and plaid button-down shirts are my obsession and if asked, I’d describe myself between a mix between grunge and classic. I’ve always held on to the belief that “comfort is style”.

However, every student has a unique style—a unique personality. When it comes to fashion, I promise you I’ll share some styling personalities on CollegeFashionista and I’ll show you what D.C. fashion is all about.

See you on campus, Fashionistas!
