Hello there, my Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Morgan Baker and I am beyond excited to be a Style Guru this fall. I am a junior at Purdue University studying Retail Merchandising and will be sending you style from the good ole Midwest!
To be honest, fashion wasn’t always on my radar. As a pre-teen I wasn’t at all concerned with the way that I dressed. My philosophy was a simple one: If it fit, I wore it. My life completely changed when I saw the movie, Roman Holiday starring Audrey Hepburn. As I saw the beautiful actress explore Rome in some truly divine clothes I realized that style wasn’t just about what you wore, but how you wore it. Fashion in a sense can tell people who you are without you having to speak a single word. With Audrey as my muse I embraced my inner style and it evolved into one of my many passions.
Although fashion is a huge part of me, there are many others things that pique my interest. I enjoy being outside and I absolutely adore flowers. My favorite flower is the sunflower because it is friendly and inviting. I love the smell of linen, bubble baths, reading for hours at a time, the sound of the ocean hitting the shore, people who smile a lot, Christmas and any movie that has Rita Hayworth as the lead.
My personal style is kind of all over the place, but that is perfectly ok! Some of my favorite pieces include my vintage bomber jacket, an overly large sweater, pearl earrings, black skinny jeans and strong pair of boots. If you couldn’t tell, fall fashion holds a very special place in my heart. My style inspiration comes from all over the place, but I always find myself coming back to fashion featured in films. I mean that is where it all started! I love Blake Lively, Grace Kelly and, of course, Audrey Hepburn. I commonly look to them for any style advice I may need.
For this outfit I paired some patterned pants with a cream peplum top. I kept the jewelry simple by going with a sage crystal necklace and a few Alex and Ani bracelets. As for the shoes I decided on some black strappy wedges and a monogrammed clutch to complete the look.
