STYLE GURU BIO: Miranda Barrett

Has my first semester as a Style Guru really flown by so quickly? It seems like only yesterday I was awkwardly approaching my first Fashionista on campus, not to mention reporting style from Paris! I am very excited to be returning to the CollegeFashionista team for the fall semester and I can’t wait to bring attention to the fabulous Fashionista/os on campus. It’s been awesome to see how my own style has grown since the beginning of my time as a Style Guru. My style has become a little more relaxed and bohemian, and I’ve been more attracted to trendy clothes.

This look in particular was inspired by Band of Outsiders pre-fall 2015 collection. The collection’s beachy blues and whites had me running to my closet for similar colors (since, unfortunately, running to the beach isn’t an option anymore). The looks are a great mix of casual preppy and understated boho, with touches of warm brown anchoring the light looks. Overall, the collection is quietly cool and could transition well from the heat of summer to the brisk weather of fall.

In my look, I channeled both my preppy and boho sides to imitate the collection’s vibe. The loose, high-waisted pants are my main piece, featuring a bold pattern in blue and white. I paired them with a crisp white button-down tied in a knot to bring in some structure and preppiness. As a girl who usually sticks to classic black, I enjoyed using brown and gold in my accessories for a change. My bracelet, envelope bag and shoes warm up the cool look.
