STYLE GURU BIO: Mia Amaranto

Hello fellow fashion lovers! My name is Mia Amaranto. I am a freshman at Western Washington University in Bellingham, and I’m planning to major in Kinesiology. I am absolutely thrilled and honored to be a part of CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru Intern this summer, and I can’t wait to share all my fashion finds with you all!

Since I was born and raised in the tropical country of the Philippines, I know the importance of balancing beauty with comfort when it comes to fashion. By that, I mean I know how to make sure that I wear clothes that are both stylish and comfortable for the weather. With summer fast approaching, it is very important to know how to balance looking good and feeling good under the sun! This means lace, light fabrics and playful patterns are back in season, and part of the reason why I’m excited for this internship as a Style Guru is because I get to write about and see the many different style variations people are going to have, and I’m excited to see all the upcoming trends come to life in this vibrant city.

As a Washington native, I know that the weather here isn’t always reliable, even in the summertime. The weather report may say there’s no chance of rain but ten minutes later, gray clouds could start rolling in. That’s why it’s important for me to have an idea of what to wear by finding inspiration both online and off. For example, I recently have been loving the boho styles of Free People and Cleobella and their look books online have been my go-to in planning warm weather outfits. However, I do also find inspiration from everyday outfits from the people around me. I pay close attention to eye-catching details on certain outfit pieces that I see because I think small details can make big statements and that’s what I’ll be on the look out for this summer.

Style is such a wonderful form of creative expression, and fashion is an art that is continuously evolving around us. That’s why I’m so excited to start writing and taking photographs of all the latest trends I find around campus. I cannot wait to discover and share new looks and become more inspired by other Fashionistas/os this summer season!
