STYLE GURU BIO: Meredith Kearns

Hello fabulous Fashionistas/os! My name is Meredith Kearns. I am a senior at the University of Pittsburgh, studying general management with concentrations in marketing and human resources, and I recently completed a three year certificate in Leadership and Ethics. I’m currently the president of a club called the Fashion Business Association at Pitt and a brother of the professional business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi. I’m so excited to start my first semester of writing for CollegeFashionista!

I have always been entranced by the world of fashion. Growing up you could find me reading Tiger Beat and Teen People and of course obsessing over my favorite actresses’ clothing. Later I would draw and sketch, to the best of my ability, my own creations on different sized stick figures. I still have a few of my drawings and keep them to remind myself of my passions at a young age.

Recently, I feel that I have come into my own and have truly embraced my personal style. I must credit two of my favorite fashion forward fictional characters, Blair Waldorf and Carrie Bradshaw, for giving me inspiration. I loved the bright colors and patterns Blair would wear, and how she could so effortlessly pull off a chic and preppy blazer or dress. I think, wait—let me rephrase that, I know, I have inherited Carrie’s obsession for shoes, and hope to one day wear my own pair of Manolo Blahniks on my wedding day.

In the future, I hope to move to New York City to pursue a job in the events industry.  Combining my favorite fictional character’s fashion inspiration and my own personal wardrobe, I will walk the streets in style. This semester I hope to show you the amazingly chic and urban styles that can be seen on Pitt’s campus. With my school centered in the city, there are an array of styles that are worn each day. I hope to enlighten and even teach myself some new style tips this semester!
