STYLE GURU BIO: Makenzie Corbett

Here I am, reporting back for round number two. If we didn’t meet the first time around, I’m Makenzie. I am currently a junior at the University of Delaware, fashion merchandising major and trendy girl on campus. I’m looking forward to writing for CollegeFashionista again this semester since I had such a great time in the fall! Just like my time here at CollegeFashionista, I believe that good things come in pairs (contour and highlight, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, Oreos and milk, etc.), so in order for you to get to know me, here’s a few lists of twos that might help in that respect.

Here are a few things about me. Two people I take style inspiration from are Claire Marshall from @heyclaire and Halsey. Two of my closet staple items are my Topshop black skinny jeans and my black high-top Converse. Two things I do to de-stress are cooking and yoga. Two places I want to visit are Amsterdam and Austin, Texas. Two bands that I think are the best live are The 1975 and Royal Blood. Two bands I would love to see live in the future: Fall Out Boy (Pete Wentz was my first legit crush) and Catfish & the Bottlemen. Two food cravings I get at least weekly include queso and chocolate croissants. Two things I do while I’m alone are try to hit Whitney Houston high notes and try every Lush face mask on the planet. Two things I hope to have in five years include a regular Sunday bunch spot with my girlfriends and a Bernese Mountain dog named Matilda (Tilly for short). Finally, two things I’ll never give up on: Zayn rejoining One Direction and pursuing my dreams.

Now that you’ve skimmed the surface of Makenzie and gotten to know me a tad more than before, let’s talk about why I’m really here: the outfit. In the spirit of my second semester writing for CollegeFashionista, I thought I’d throw on one of my new favorite pieces, that sorta acts as two different items of clothing at once: overalls. I copped this simple black pair from Old Navy on sale but plenty of retailers like ASOS have pairs just like them for sale online. Pairing it with a striped shirt adds interest to the outfit and keeps me covered and cozy in these winter months. Throw a denim chambray shirt around my waist and my classic black c Taylor Converse on my feet, and I’m good to go. Sweet and simple, but with enough fun and edginess to keep it interesting. That’s a pretty good summation of my style.

That is it my fellow Fashionistas/os! I hope you enjoyed our brief introduction as much as I know I did! Make sure you check back in to see my posts and perspective on the fashion here at UD and I will catch you cats on the flip-flop.
