STYLE GURU BIO: Maggie Manning

Hello fabulous fashion friends! My name is Maggie Manning, first timer in the world of CollegeFashionista and I am currently a student at Kent State University, perusing a career in fashion merchandising. This last semester was my first semester being at Kent. I originally thought I would fit into the business world and find some sort of work for me there. Never the less, through the help of my family and friends I started looking elsewhere and wounded up finding my home away from home at Kent State University.

Being a Wisconsin girl, I’ve always called the Midwest my home. My first year of college I went close to home and thought that would do me just fine. However, having a full year and one semester under my belt, I knew it was time for a change. So I kind of just was like, “hey, let me dive in with both feet and do something I’ve always loved; fashion”. I found Kent State, applied and never looked back. Starting off in a new school with new classes, new places, new friends and not to mention a new state, I was beyond terrified. Now I couldn’t have made a better decision.

Through my life my one main outlet has always been fashion. It was always something I could be in control of. Growing up I had moved around a lot and that was something I couldn’t control. So I choose to take something into my own hands and control some sort of aspect within my life. I loved the feeling of picking out what I wanted to wear or putting pieces together. That was one factor of my life that I could always keep within my own control. And I could and still do spend hours in my room making outfits of the endless supplies of clothes I now have.

My favorite thing to wear are jeggings or that one pair of jeans that will always make you feel good, no matter what day it is. They go with anything and everything. I swear by my denim and lately my closet has grown to almost an embarrassing amount of denim. For summer, lighter washed denim is always a must to have. I personally have been eyeing up some Forever 21 light wash boyfriend jeans. Throw a pair of Converse with them and a graphic T-shirt and go grab a coffee with some friends. That’s my kind  of hang out and that’s where most people will find me all summer.

While I’m dressed in denim and hanging at a cafe, I’m excited to find the best styles and other fashionable people to share my love for fashion with. This blog will help me express my style and passion through my writing. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
