STYLE GURU BIO: Maggie Cowens

Hello my fellow fashion friends! My name is Maggie Cowens and I am a senior at the University of Cincinnati-Clermont College. I have two associate’s degrees, one in Business Management and the other in Marketing Management. I am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Applied Administration, and though it may be hard for me to wrap my head around it, I’ll be graduating this December.

I work at the University of Cincinnati as a College Relations Marketing and Office Assistant, and I absolutely love the fact that I am able to work at the same place I go to school. It’s such an incredible feeling of involvement in my school community. Speaking of involvement, I am also the President and founding member of the largest organization on campus, a business student organization, called PACE (professionalism, academics, character and experience). I also work in the Marketing department at Tom+Chee Worldwide, which is the tomato soup and grilled cheese restaurant for the kid at heart.

It’s pretty amazing to see how many great opportunities I’ve been able to jump at since my time at UC. Speaking of great opportunities, I am so thrilled to begin my first semester as a Style Guru! As a child growing up, you could say my style was more on the tomboyish side of the spectrum. It wasn’t until around junior high when I really began expressing myself through fashion and beauty trends. I have those teen geared magazines to thank for that. I’m talking to you, Seventeen, Cosmo Girl, Teen Vogue and so on and so forth. I would sit in my bed and flip through the pages of those magazines, taking bits and pieces of style tips from here and there to compile my own personal style likings.

My present day style is casual, classy and comfortable. Most of the time, I strive for a minimalistic look. I love to dress up a pair of skinny jeans with a nice top, a statement necklace and bootie heels. During the cold months here in Ohio, you will most likely catch me wearing my riding boots or my leather rain boots (depending on the weather because in Ohio, you never really know) and a down-filled vest of some sort to keep me warm. For the approaching hot summer months, I’ll definitely be sporting my gladiator sandals, shorts and a patterned tank top or perhaps I’ll keep it simple and cool with a flowy dress and wedges. When it comes to accessories, I never go without them. I always love to sport bold rings, dainty necklaces and classic bracelets that leave a lasting impression.

I can’t wait to learn more about my personal style as well as learning more about other styles and trends I am interested in. I’m always willing to try out and learn about a new trend or rock a bold new look, so I’m definitely looking forward to this internship and what it has in store for me!
