STYLE GURU BIO: Madeline Haller

Hello fellow Fashionistas! My name is Maddy Haller and I am an incoming junior majoring in retail merchandising and product development at Florida State University. I am beyond thrilled to be a Style Guru on this empowering platform.

I have always loved fashion. I think part of my style obsession comes from the fact that I grew up with two older sisters who loved to dress me up. Although I’m sure I looked cute in my leather pants, glitter eye shadow and flip flop wedges (#90s), I remember so clearly thinking, “Why can’t I just dress like the other kids?” By now I’ve realized I never want to dress like everyone else and how important it is to have your own style. I guess I have them to thank for instilling a passion for fashion in me.

According to Google, the definition of a Fashionista is “a devoted follower of fashion.” I think it’s not so much about being a follower but about being a trendsetter, creator and one of a kind. I wholeheartedly believe the saying fashion is art and you are the canvas.” I don’t limit myself one bit when it comes to clothes. If I like it, I wear it. I treat getting dressed in the morning as a way of expressing myself and I think that’s why I’ve become so in love with fashion.

My personal style has always been incredibly versatile and cannot be labeled into just one category. I’ve found that my favorite outfits combine contrasting styles. I love mixing feminine with masculine and edgy with classic. The juxtaposition is what creates a bold, memorable look. Additionally, I strongly believe that comfort is key. If I’m comfortable in what I’m wearing, odds are I’m feeling confident and, in my opinion, that’s a key element in being a Fashionista.

I hope this blurb taught you a thing or two about me and I can’t wait to share more with you as the semester unfolds. Stay tuned!
