Hi there, Fashionista/os! My name is Liz Akins and I am a junior at the University of Kentucky. I am studying Nursing but have always had a passion for fashion and design. This is my first semester being a Style Guru and I am super excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista and venture with you all through fashion this fall!
I am originally from Tennessee, but living in Lexington for the past two years has been the most amazing experience! I have learned so much about myself while living here. Fashion and styling have always been a consistent passion of mine ever since I can remember. Although I have pursued my interest in the medical field in college, I often attempt to experience design through other mediums. I love to paint and take photographs of anything (and everything!) that catches my eye.
I love fashion and styling because it is a way to create something new, and a way to express myself through any style that I choose. I personally tend to lean more towards the girly and feminine side of clothing, but I do love to experiment. While hunting for good pieces, I usually find thrift store items to sometimes pair with one or two pricier items to complete my look—my version of chic that doesn’t completely break the bank! I am excited to explore my own style through writing articles, while also being exposed to new styles around campus!
At the moment, there are very few outfits lately that I haven’t tried to pair with these minimal black heels. They have become a closet favorite. I’m also loving this black blazer, paired with this cheetah print dress for a pop of color. This black, oversized tote is also perfect for carrying my camera and computer!
