STYLE GURU BIO: Lauren Rich

Hola Fashionistas/os. My name is Lauren Rich, and I am a senior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I am majoring in English and minoring in Information Technology (IT). I am beyond excited to be interning for CollegeFashionista this semester. Being from New England, I get to experience all four seasons every year. The same is true for this internship where I get to photograph the transition from winter to spring.

My interest in fashion was sparked during my junior year of college. During the spring 2014 semester, I started to notice the diverse styles being modeled by the 20,000 students who grazed the pathways of our large campus. I saw everything from knee-high boots to colorful scarves. I then began to slowly implement these articles into my wardrobe. I have pink and purple scarves, black and brown boots and several pairs of leggings. I would describe my style as a cross between preppy and casual. For example, I like the look of jeans, but not the way they feel on my body. The solution? A pair of leggings from Capelli New York. They look like a pair of dark wash ankle-jeans, but feel like yoga pants. What could be better?

My objective this semester is to capture the fashion sense of students that run contrary to my own. I want to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with my wardrobe. I am particularly interested in the styles of grunge and bohemian. So be on the lookout for my camera lens!
