STYLE GURU BIO: Kyairah Williams

Greetings and salutations my fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Kyairah (kee-air-uh) Williams, but I’m more commonly known as Ki (kee). I attend the illustrious Howard University as a sophomore majoring in Television and Film Production with a minor in Design. Anytime I’m not drowning in textbooks or working on projects for class, you can catch me thrifting at a near by second-hand store looking for the next groovy addition to my eclectic wardrobe. If I’m doing neither of those things, there’s a 100 percent chance I’m either glued to my camera or my laptop taking and editing photos.

I come from a very stylish family, so fashion has always been a huge part of my life. Starting at the age of 11, I’ve styled models for UJ Fashions runway shows and taken photos for several of my friends clothing lines. Not to mention, I won best dressed all four years of my high school career. I’ve always believed that I have an eccentric style because I like to try a little bit of everything, and I’m not afraid to push the limits every once in a while. Style, to me, is the perfect way to express yourself without saying a word. You can tell everyone in the room that you are confident and ready to take on the world simply by wearing your favorite colorful jacket.

As a college student I’ve found a whole new side to my style that I never knew existed and I like to call it “Tomboy-chic”. The tomboy part is pretty easy to grasp: baggy pants, more sneakers, less sandals, backwards baseball hats and comfy graphic T-shirts. A cute lippy, stylish handbag and simple jewelry is where the chic part comes in, which brings me to my outfit.

Here, I’m wearing my new favorite black cloth overalls from Forever 21, a basic off-white cami from H&M, crimson classic low Vans and a pair of the original Tommy Hilfiger boxer briefs in red to give it the tomboy look. I threw in the black floppy wool hat from H&M and simple gold chains to complete my tomboy-chic.

This is my very first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and excited is probably an understatement for how I’m feeling at the moment. I can’t wait to meet all of the fashionable bison around Howard’s campus and share their stylish expertise with the world. It’s time to run with the herd.
