A little about myself: I am a senior at the University of Iowa and a communications major also receiving a certificate in entrepreneurship. Originally from the south Southside (Kanye voice)… of Chicago. I am involved in Fashion Management Club, PRSSA (public relations student society of america) and an organization named STAR (students to assist in recruitment). Some of my hobbies include reading novels by fashion designers, magazines, Netflix, stuffing my face, shopping, blasting R&B and hip-hop music and watching YouTube videos for hair, makeup, etc.
I love, love, love styling and after graduation I plan to make a career out of it.
Fashion has been a part of my life ever since I was a little girl. I’ve always dreamed of making it into the fashion industry. I used to be in love with Disney Channel dress up games and even taking clothes from my grandmother’s and aunt’s closet and playing dress up with my cousins. I used to even save up money to dress up my Barbie’s or my build-a-bear with new outfits. One thing I’ve learned since I’ve been in college is that you can’t shy away at what you truly love and that you should definitely make a career out of whatever floats your boat regardless of the income it will bring you. For me, I had to ditch accounting and stop kidding myself… I mean fashion is LIFE!
My style is usually… actually almost always affordable (being a broke college student), yet still cute. I love to maximize my closet, wearing the same outfits and styling them differently each time. I am obsessed with researching different styles and adding a little tweak of my own onto them to fit my style. In this look I am wearing an olive jumpsuit because let’s face it, jumpsuits are so easy to style. To complement my look I am wearing a pointed-black suede flat, a black choker and sporting a black satchel.
This semester I hope to “woo” you all with some of my looks and provide you with some fashion inspiration. I am so happy I am able to return as a Style Guru for the fall and I am more than anxious to share some of my fashion inspirations and campus fashion with you all.
