STYLE GURU BIO: Kathya Arce

Hey everyone! My name is Kathya Arce, and I’m 22 years old, from Long Island, New York. I just finished up my junior year at St John’s University; I’ll be going into my senior year. I’m a communication major and I love everything about it because each course I take is something I can apply to what I want to do after college. I aspire to work in the beauty industry and eventually own my own business. I love everything about beauty. I think it’s a great way for not only women, but also men, to express themselves and enhance their features. In my free time you can either catch me binge-watching beauty videos on YouTube, or creating my own. I’m extremely excited to be given the opportunity to intern with CollegeFashionista this summer! I believe this internship will further enhance my skills and knowledge necessary for blogging.

I recently started my own YouTube channel four months ago. On there I create my own looks, and recreate others. At first I was a little skeptical about starting my own channel, but ever since I did, I don’t regret a single thing. I not only enjoy the creative process behind it, but it also feels great when others love the content I post and feel inspired by it. To me that’s the most rewarding feeling and it keeps me motivated to put more content out. I love being able to guide others with what I know in this industry. I’ve also made amazing friends along the way who share the same passion as I do!

When it comes to fashion, I don’t have a particular style, but I sure do love the color black! For me, the process is more like looking through my closet and putting things together. The great thing about fashion is that it’s really a great way to express yourself and emotions. One day you can be really put together for an exciting night out, and the next day you can be at home, laid back in sweats and a hoodie. Whatever it is that you choose to wear there’s usually a meaning behind it, and that’s what makes us all different. As Rachel Zoe says: “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”
