STYLE GURU BIO: Katelyn Prinz

Hi there! My name is Katelyn Prinz, and I am a junior at the Fashion Institute of Technology, studying fashion business management and double minoring in Italian studies and English. While juggling academics and extracurricular activities, I am an active athlete for FIT’s women’s soccer team as a returning senior captain. Although NYC has become the place I call home for the past three years, Long Island always holds a special place in my heart. I am a bagel enthusiast and kate spade worshipper, and I obsess over my dogs that I call my puppy brothers (seriously, I kid you not, I have more pictures of my dogs than of my friends and family).

By the time I could talk, my mom said I practically dictated everything that I wore. My mom knew at a very young age I would be involved in fashion due to the fact I would have a full blown tantrum if my socks did not match. My style from when I was younger to what it currently has become today has varied, but nothing completely drastic happened. If I had to describe my style, it would probably go along the lines of preppy, athleisure, comfortable and chic. Lets face it, everyone loves athletic clothes, and I know I’m not the only one who goes out in public in my VSX sport pants and a running top with no intentions of visiting a gym.

My absolute go-to color in clothing is black. Yes, I know it’s technically a shade, but it is a power color. I mean, you can never go wrong with black no matter what occasion you’re attending. I also tend to wear simplistic and dainty jewelry with just about everything. My look above is very clean and chic with solid colors that I would consider a transition outfit from summer to fall. Also, you can never have enough platform booties when living in the city. The ones photographed are from Steve Madden, but they can be found available in many retailers with varying prices. My Lucky Brand jeans are surprisingly from T.J. Maxx (yes I’m a Maxxanista and proud of it). I love the simplistic detail of the one rip on the knee that makes it a little edgy yet simplistic. Under the white lace-up tank top, I am wearing a Victoria Secret lace bralette. I also finished the look with cat eye kate spade sunglasses and a classic kate spade bag paired with a black puffer because who doesn’t love those little pom-pom accessories!

I am so excited to see what this semester has in store as a first-year Style Guru!
