STYLE GURU BIO: Kara Sciscente

May 29th, 2015 at 2:00am

My name is Kara Sciscente, and I’m a rising senior (time flies) at Syracuse University. I am studying Retail Management at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.

For as long as I can remember, I have been involved in painting, drawing, sketching and creative writing. As time went on, my interests turned into passions. I fell in love with colors, textures and fabrics; both organic and man-made. I would see my inspiration and translate it by putting together an outfit or sketching a design.

During my time at Syracuse, I expanded my interests and began to follow fashion blogs, runway designers and haute couture magazines. From this, I learned about the strong relationship between social media and the fashion industry. Posting through platforms like Instagram, WordPress or Blogger can connect fashion bloggers to large, well-known companies and brands. Blogging provides a plethora of opportunities such as fashion line collaborations, magazine features and more.

Learning about blogging and my pre-existing passion for fashion motivated me to become a Style Guru. I am super duper excited to share my journey with all of you!

My personal style cannot be described, but only seen. Every day I channel a different look. For today’s outfit, Balmain spring 2015 gladiator sandals, shown at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, inspired me to buy these great Dolce Vita platform sandals. I then paired my shoes with a streamline knit dress with side slits from Forever 21. I threw on my favorite bohemian necklace from American Eagle and staple J Galt USA denim jacket. I’ve really been trying to incorporate more accessories into my outfits, so this hat from Urban Outfitters is a new thing for me. Maybe tomorrow I will use the influences of Coachella 2015’s bohemian vibe! Stay tuned, my style possibilities are endless!
