STYLE GURU BIO: Kaitlyn Naze

Hey everyone! My name is Kaitlyn Naze, and I’m a senior at Stonehill College majoring in Mediated Communication with a minor in Cinema Studies. Anyone who knows me knows that I love animals, candy and Taylor Swift. I also love online shopping, even though my bank account is constantly yelling at me for this. This is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I am excited to get started.

Ever since I was little, I was into fashion. My mom told me that I refused to wear jeans and I would throw temper tantrums if she ever tried to put me in them. Even now, I prefer to wear dresses or skirts but I have learned to work with jeans since they are a staple to any wardrobe. My personal style varies from day to day and really depends on what type of mood I am in. Some days you can find me in leggings and a big flannel with a beanie adorning my head, other days you can find me wearing a skater skirt with a cute crop top. My favorite type of clothing is a sweater. And when it comes to sweaters, the bigger the better. During the summer, I work at a discovery farm with a strict uniform of long shorts and a bright green T-shirt. In order to make this uniform a bit more personable, I always like to add a colorful headband or bandana and a cute pair of stud earrings. That way, even dressing like everyone else, I can still feel like myself.

In the fall semester of 2014, I studied abroad in London. Walking through the city streets, I felt inspired to spice up my wardrobe each and everyday because of the daring styles that I would encounter. My Members Only leather jacket became a staple in my wardrobe because it went with everything and always added to an ordinary outfit. I also fell in love with cropped black leather boots. I wore mine almost every day in London. They were comfortable to walk in and went with jeans or a dress.

The weather in New England changes quite rapidly which means it is always important to layer. This spring especially, the weather has been unpredictable. In the outfit pictured, I decided to wear a plain white T-shirt, a statement navy blue jacket, American Eagle Outfitters jeggings, a coral clutch and my favorite white Converse. I love to wear clothes that I feel comfortable in because that equals confidence, which is key in owning any outfit.

I cannot wait to see what my fellow college students are wearing this summer and feature them on here so you can get inspired by their style just like I do. As Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City said, “ I like my money right where I can see it… hanging in my closet.”
