STYLE GURU BIO: Jessica Ricks

When I look at the world, I see a world where everyone and everything has a story. We all have such different experiences and so much to show everyone about who we are. I want to be someone who tells these stories.

Hello CollegeFashionista, my name is Jessica Ricks. I’m a sophomore and journalism major at Towson University. This is my first semester as a Style Guru. As you’ve probably guessed,  I love to write and I love fashion, but who am I really?

I consider myself to be a creative person, always finding fun ways to do things and  incorporating things that I love to do. I’ve been a dancer since I was 4 years old. I think that’s one of the things that really made me who I am today: driven and passionate. I paint and draw, as well as play a little bit of piano. My feelings always go into my art, dance or writing. I find that these things are the best ways to express myself. Aside from just being a lover of fine arts I’m a huge reader. My favorite books are fantasies and mysteries.

I love nature, I love traveling and I love having new experiences. One of my favorite things about life is always improving. Improving in things that I love to do and making myself better as a person. Every experience in life teaches us something new and opens the door to do so much more, and I think being a Style Guru is one of those experiences which is why I’m so excited for it.

I started writing when I was really young and for a long time I mainly did creative writing. It was always my dream to be a famous author. In high school I got into news writing when I wrote for the school newspaper and I found that it was something I really enjoyed. I’ve continued it since then and here I am as a journalism major, writing for my college paper The Towerlight where I have my own column, and now writing for CollegeFashionista.

Everyone has a story that’s just waiting to be shared with the world. Here at CollegeFashionista, we share stories for those who love fashion. Everyone expresses themselves in a different way, whether through art or cute boots and a jacket. I’m honored to be a part of this and I’m very excited to share with all of you who I am.
