STYLE GURU BIO: Jessica Jensen

Hello! My name is Jessica, and I am so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista this semester. Besides fashion, a few of my favorite things include everything rose gold, coffee, and cats! I am a senior at Iowa State University studying public relations and apparel merchandising. CollegeFashionista is a great opportunity, as it allows me to incorporate my love of creativity through both writing and fashion.

I have had an interest in fashion for as long as I can remember. I credit my fashion sense to my mom, who has influenced me all my life. She was known for dressing me in hats, and to this day I love finishing off my outfit with a hat. My decision to pursue fashion and writing was also influenced by my involvement in 4-H, which gave me the essential background knowledge of the principles of design at a young age.

I would describe my personal style as whimsical, as I don’t have a certain style I always go for. I enjoy having a wide variety of trends in my wardrobe that allow me to create a different look everyday. When shopping, I find it important to purchase items that are both on trend and versatile, so I can add my own whimsy to the outfit with the ability to wear it with other items I already own.

This dress initially caught my eye due to the suede texture and burnt orange hue. The dress features unique details such as a full back zipper, and cross pieces on the sleeves and side seams. The dress can easily be worn from summer to winter with the option to throw on a jacket and tights, making it a practical purchase.

My accessories for this look are neutral and have a chic western vibe. The statement necklace acts as a focal point. Multiple layers of metal add both depth and texture, and that continues with the chain fringe bottom. I added a pop of glam with layered bracelets of faux diamonds and neutral colored jewels. The gray booties continue the western vibe with fringe accents on the side. The wide brim floppy hat tops off this look.

I look forward to a fashion filled semester with you all!
