STYLE GURU BIO: Jaqlyn Sweetman

Ah, yes! Everyone knows what time it is, summertime! We all have made it through yet another trying semester and reached that time of the year where nothing, but the salty ocean and warm sand is calling our name. With that being said, you now know where I’ll be spending a chunk of my time.

Let me introduce myself. I’m Jaqlyn Sweetman and this is my second semester with CollegeFashionista. I am a busy bee and on-the-go constantly! My roots come from a small rural area in the “lower slower” part of Delaware. That just might be the reason why my entire existence I have craved something more. Fast-paced and all-consuming to be exact. To fill this void, I fell in love with fashion and the thrill of travel. Or maybe this duo fell in love with me. Who knows! I’m extremely excited to do this internship during the summer season is putting it lightly. Summer looks are unique to anything else, because there are countless different avenues you could go to achieve a look. I plan to capture a vast variety so hopefully you guys, as well as myself can gain some inspiration from our fellow summer Fashionistas/os.

My style, you ask? I like to think of my taste as being pretty simplistic. Not defined per say, but I stick with what I know. Solid colors, the more neutral, the better. Quaint little details that make a piece special always catch my eye, because to the average Joe they might overlook it, but to someone who really pays attention, it will stand out the most. Anything that has a nice light, flowy feel is right up my alley. Which is the very reason I am sporting this deep blue maxi dress. Not only does it fulfill my simplicity requirement, but the diamond-cutout sleeves are why this dress even exists (in my opinion, of course). After getting my outfit situated, I pick out my jewelry. I always choose my accessories based on my clothes. This can make or break you! Too much or not enough is a tough line to draw, but it comes with practice. I enjoy small-stacked gold rings with stud earrings. You won’t catch me too often wearing anything but studs. My collection is impressive. A bonus to a ton of that big hot ball of fire in the sky is you wear sunnies ALL the time. These cat eye shades are one of my current favorites, well because they are nude. Nude is always versatile. This outfit is a dreamy combination and will most likely be repeated a few times this summer.

Along with tan lines, barbecues and unfortunately a few dreaded summer classes, I will be on the hunt for mind-blowing summer style. I know that University of Delaware is capable of providing me with that, so let’s see what you’ve got and here is to another RAD semester as a Style Guru!
