STYLE GURU BIO: Jane Zhang

Greetings from Davis! This is my second year in UC Davis, double majoring in textiles and clothing and managerial economics. School’s winter quarter just started last week and I’m very excited to bring to you all the Fashionistas/os in Davis!

I’m a huge believer in what Ralph Lauren said, “Fashion is not necessarily about labels. It’s not about brands. It’s about something else that comes from within you.” I think that fashion should represent one’s true self no matter what anyone says and I try to challenge myself with different styles and rock them as my own. Recently I have been obsessed with wearing all black and slightly heeled booties.

In this outfit, I’m wearing a simple black maxi slip dress with a cropped stripe fitted sweater under. This is a perfect twist to the simple summer cami slip dress. Thin turtleneck sweaters or white T-shirts can also be worn under depending on the weather. With this relatively loosely fitted slip dress, I decided to dress it up with a long simple necklace, black faux suede moto jacket and black ankle booties. The long simple necklace creates a V shape that gives off a visual illusion, elongating the body. The black faux suede jacket gives an overall structure to my look and helps show the waistline. Ankle booties have been my personal favorite as they look very chic and are easy to walk around with. As the main color scheme of my look being black, I wore a transparent mint green sunglasses to add a subtle hint of color.

From my past year in UC Davis, I have definitely seen lots of gorgeous outfits and been inspired by them. I’m extremely thrilled to be back and have the chance to share the fashion scenes in Davis, so stay tuned!
