STYLE GURU BIO: Gillian Luskay

Hey Fashionistas/os! My name is Gillian Luskay, and I’m so excited to be writing my first post as a Style Guru! I’m currently a junior (weird) studying Fashion Merchandising at the University of South Carolina. Originally from Massachusetts, adjusting to the “southern style” was definitely a big step for me but I can’t wait to share with y’alll how I keep my northern look in this southern state (and heat)!

Fashion has always been a passion of mine; from “designing clothes” in a notebook throughout elementary school to picking out every outfit for high school the night before, so I would ensure I had the best look. Going into college, I decided I wanted to learn more about the fashion industry and make a career out of something I love so much. Figuring out what specifically to do with fashion made me think about all the things I love about it. Shopping being at the top of the list, I thought how fun it would be to be the reason behind certain merchandise being in a store. My goal now is to become a buyer for some amazing store and give someone else that excited feeling of picking out an outfit the night before school.

As for my style, it’s all over the map. I’ve gone from preppy to boho and everything in between. My style always expresses my personality, while trying to include all the latest trends. A solid 90 percent of my wardrobe is either from T.J. Maxx or Marshalls and would absolutely consider myself a Maxxinista. I love being surprised by the new inventory every time I go in and never leave empty handed. Seriously, I had to open a TJX credit card to justify my excessive spending. They always have what’s trending and at a reasonable price, like how could you not?

My favorite season is fall so I am so excited to be posting all things football and Halloween for the next months! With that being said, it won’t be hard for me to sway away from the summer style and into booties and sweaters! South Carolina definitely has a few weeks of summer weather left, so today I decided to go with a light, flowy off-the-shoulder shirt over a white lace bralette. I paired that with a pair of skinny jeans and the comfiest brown wedges, kept my two staple necklaces on, and with my high-pony I was ready for whatever! This whole outfit is from T.J.Maxx and is perfect for a casual #SundayFunday.

I can’t wait for the upcoming months as a Style Guru and to see what trends come up through the fall!
