STYLE GURU BIO: Georgia Karacostas

After receiving the email this summer confirming my spot as a fall intern at CollegeFashionista, I was happier than Carrie Bradshaw opening a fresh new box of Manolo Blahniks. I have always been a style stalker; keeping up with the latest trends and fashion, and admiring people’s style everywhere I go. So when I officially received a spot as an intern, it was truly a dream come true.

Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Georgia, but most people call me G. Born and raised in Queens, New York, just a 20 minute train ride from Manhattan, I’ve been surrounded by a large diversity of fashion my whole life. I’m a senior at Hofstra University— pause for tears of sadness and fear that I’ll be in the real world soon—with a major in Mass Media Studies and Communications. Embarking on my college journey, I was very confused at what I wanted to do with the rest of my life; but then again, what teenager isn’t? I realized that one of the things I was really good at was not being able to stop talking and communicating. So here we are, four years later with an almost completed Bachelor’s degree in Communications—yikes!

Trying to describe my style is difficult because it truly varies depending on my mood, but if I had to define it, it would be somewhere between casual and chic. Basics are always a necessity and the best way to begin any outfit. The simpler the better. I usually look to the men’s section first for style inspiration, and then try to emulate similar styles with a feminine twist. I believe Yves Saint Laurent said it best, “I often said that I had wished I invented blue jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, and simplicity—all I hope for in my clothing.” That’s all I hope for in my style!

My current “obsessions” are my adidas sneakers, denim on denim outfits including my boyfriend ripped jeans and leather jackets.

In this outfit I’m channeling comfy chic like described above, wearing: gray high-rise stretchy skinny jeans, white Adidas sneakers, a basic black crop top, a long cardigan, and a detailed belt.

I’m super excited to be apart of the CollegeFashionista team, and I hope you enjoy reading my posts as much as I’ll enjoy writing them! Make sure to RAD me and keep up with my latest!
