Greetings everyone! My name is Gabriela Silveira and I am currently a junior at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington majoring in Communication Studies with a concentration in Global Diversity. One fun fact about me is that I was born and raised in Brazil, which means I have only been living in America for five years! The transition from Brazil to the U.S was a complete culture shock. However, I have found that bringing my personal style with me to another country has helped me better adapt to a new setting while still feeling unique and stylish in my own way.
I would describe my style as simplistic. A good outfit-of-the-day to me consists of a plain T-shirt and some good jeans. I personally express my mood through my accessories since my looks are basic and simple for most days. I find it so fun to be able to wear the same outfit and completely change it by using different accessories. If you were to ask me what my favorite piece of clothing is, I would have to say jackets. Having different styles of outerwear allows me to play up my outfit while keeping a classic and simple feel to it. As of right now, my favorite types of jackets are fuzzy ones, since the cold weather of winter is finally arriving in North Carolina.
I think the biggest benefit of fashion is being able to express yourself with what you wear. Even though it is awesome to follow trends and have the latest fashion in your wardrobe, I truly believe your best look is represented when you wear it with confidence. I always try to find pieces to add to my collection that make me feel and look confident, while still being comfortable.
I am so excited to be able to share with you some of the fashion trends I find throughout the semester and also to learn from other Style Gurus across college campuses!
