STYLE GURU BIO: Gabriela Kiyoto

Hi there, Fashionistas/os!

My name is Gabriela Kiyoto and I am excited to be the newest addition to the Style Guru team. I’m a Public Relations major with a minor in General Business at Virginia Commonwealth University. With my college career coming to an end, I’m eager to gain more perspective and experiences as an intern for CollegeFashionista, as well as kicking off my start into the blogging world.

Deciding to pursue PR was something I knew I was destined to do. Writing has always been a passion of mine, as well as a strong suit. Before declaring my major I had to figure out what path I would take, and what would be a perfect fit for me. Upon my arrival at Virginia Commonwealth University, I was unsure about what career path I wanted to approach and if I was making the right choice; every worry freshmen endure.

After taking my first mass communications elective, I knew that was it. I fell in love with the vast variety of job positions PR has to offer. Then finally it all made sense. After watching Sex and The City for so many years, I’ve always idolized Samantha’s success and career aspiration, and wanted to be just like her (occupation-wise, that is).

I’ve always been into fashion, but not in the ‘wear heels and dress up everyday’ type of way. Don’t get me wrong, I love dressing up and putting on a pair of strappy heels and going out for a girl’s night, but my style is more casual with accessories to dress up my outfit. I turn to Jessie James Decker for inspiration, she is always keeping it effortlessly sexy (I mean really, you can’t go wrong with that) or Kristin Cavallari, who makes stunning shoes for every occasion possible.

As a college student, most of us don’t have the time or the energy to look fierce everyday especially when you add midterms, finals and all nighters into the mix. With these hot mamas, I feel like I’ve mastered dressing up a pair of leggings, making it look casual yet done-up.

Aside from getting my inspiration from these beauty and style icons, I also love how trendy and very fashionable Richmond is. With a diverse campus, there is a variation and mix into what students wear, always influencing me for what outfits I can piece together. I’m looking forward to both writing and sharing the trending beauty and fashion styles. I am excited to begin this journey with CollegeFashionista, hope you all enjoy.
