STYLE GURU BIO: Gabriela Concepcion

Hi everyone! My name is Gabi and this is my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I’m so excited to explore my own style as well as photograph my fellow students’ styles.

My school situation is a little different. I’m spending the first semester of this year taking online classes and then transferring to New York in the spring to study advertising and marketing at Fashion Institute of Technology.

I began to seriously care about what I wore when I was in the seventh grade and found a love for Gossip Girl. Being that I’m from a small beach town, people would look at me like I’d grown two heads for stepping outside of the Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch plague that swept my school at the time, but I took it with a grain of salt.

My mood, the people I see and the places I go inevitably inspire me. My style is ever-changing, so embraced this and joined CollegeFashionista in order to document it. During senior year, I basically wore whatever I wanted and somehow ended up winning best dressed! What a nice ending, right? I guess the lesson here is to be yourself, Fashionistas/os.

My go-to outfit is something like what you’re seeing: an old band T-shirt, loose pants and some type of statement piece—whether it be my bag, shoes, jacket or some combination of the three! For this outfit, my T-shirt is vintage, my pants are from H&M, my jacket is from eBay and my shoes are Jeffrey Campbell.

Again, I’m so excited to get started and can’t wait to read all your articles. Here’s to a great fall semester.
