STYLE GURU BIO: Erin Schulenberg

I am so excited to intern for CollegeFashionista this fall! I am a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying Textile and Fashion Design.  Since I was a little girl, I have wanted to be part of the fashion industry. It has been a life long dream and I am so thrilled to be living it now. My love for texture, color and print is communicated through my designs as well as my personal style. I believe in being bold and taking risks.  Style is definitely a way to express yourself without having to say too much and I think that is powerful.

My favorite items of clothing to wear are ones that speak for themselves. Dressing like everyone else is boring anyway. I think it’s more important to just be yourself! I love a good sweater, a killer pair of skinny jeans and a classic berry L’Oreal lipstick. Even though I am adventurous with my style, I still try to blend solids and wardrobe staples with statement pieces. I think it’s a great way to balance the two!

Other than my passion for fashion, I enjoy chai tea lattes a little too much, hold a second degree black belt and am crazy about fair trade. I want to be able to make a difference in the world while doing something I love. I believe fair trade can change the fashion industry’s idea of how garments and other products can be made in an ethical and sustainable manner. On top of that, I aspire to inspire others to be the best version of themselves. I can’t wait to see what this fall has in store for me and my fellow students at UW Madison! Rock On!
