STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Liebau

My name is Emily Liebau and you can find me studying to be a journalist at Michigan State University. I’m pretty hyped to join the CollegeFashionista team this semester, so let’s get started!

Despite being a journalism major, I love doing artistic work whenever I can. Currently I’m the Creative Director for TEDxMSU, as well as a print photographer for the school fashion magazine, VIM.

Unlike most gurus, I didn’t have a “passion for fashion” until high school. There was a certain freedom I found in all the patterns, the styles and different selections. I’ve always loved creating and admiring art and I saw fashion as a new way to express my own creativity. Everyone has their own unique sense of style, and with each coming season you can challenge your wardrobe with the latest trends, while adding to your list of favorites.

A lot of outfits this fall/winter have been focusing on fabric. Different textures, colors and flares that blend in well with the season. You can still look chic while being mad comfy in fluffy fabric.

In this shoot, I’m sporting a tan suede mini dress with a black ribbed turtleneck underneath keeping me warm. Don’t deny yourself dresses when it starts to get cold, a nifty pair of black tights can keep you warm, while adding the perfect touch to your outfit.

On my feet are a pair of black suede high boots. Over the knee boots have definitely been a popular gem this season, and if you’re tall like me, be sure to snatch the right pair when you see them.

No matter where you go, with whatever you wear, strut your style this holiday season, stay warm and be fierce.
