STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Gebler

January 5th, 2017 at 2:00am

Hi everyone! My name’s Emily, and I am very excited to start my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! I am a sophomore at Kent State University majoring in fashion merchandising. My love for fashion goes all the way back to designing outfits for my “customers” when I pretended to be a designer as a child, but it really thrived when I started my first job at a local boutique at the age of 15. Now, I am thrilled to be able to share my passion with you all!

For a little about me: when I am not studying for school, I am watching Netflix (currently Gilmore Girls and The Office), finding another craft to attempt, getting sucked into the automatic scrolling of Facebook videos, or jamming to music. I am a small town girl with a love for the city life, specifically, New York City. My typical day consists of about two smoothies and an average of 20 pins about my future house, future wedding, and recipes I will probably never make. I am very social and love just being around people, so I can’t wait to further my internship with CollegeFashionista, meet new people, and learn about their styles.

Personally, I really don’t have a specific style; if I think it is cute, I will buy it. Some days, you can find me really dressed up, while other days, I will be in a comfy, laid-back outfit. I shop anywhere and everywhere, and I live for a good sale. Being in college, I have found a new level of appreciation for online shops and am currently into Tobi. Since this semester is starting with the end of winter, I get to express my love for all kinds of fur vests, as well as the colors maroon and hunter green, but don’t worry because come spring, my vest obsession flips to a kimono obsession. For this look, I paired one of my favorite vests with a simple hunter green long-sleeve top. I topped that off with my distressed jeans–my current go-to pair–and then dressed my outfit up with some suede tan heeled booties. I love completing an outfit with some simple jewelry–most of which carry a special meaning to me–just to add a little glitz to any look. For this outfit, I threw on my Alex and Ani bracelets on to complete it.

I can’t wait to show you all the trends around Kent State this semester! I welcome you all to join me on my journey by following along with my posts.
