STYLE GURU BIO: Ella Deutsch

Hi there, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Gali Ella Deutsch, but you can call me Ella. I am a senior at University of Central Florida, majoring in English. I am thrilled to be continuing my adventure as a Style Guru this fall, and cannot wait to capture some of UCF’s own Fashionistas/os!

As summer winds down and school begins, it’s time to get serious yet again, but spending my days in the library doesn’t mean my wardrobe has to be as drab as the textbooks I’m forced to read. Over the past few months, I’ve been shedding my bargain shopping ways and started focusing on building a classic closet to match my focused mindset. Graduation is four months away, and there is no chance I’m letting my GPA or my dream job of becoming a creative director for a high fashion magazine slip through my fingers. By stocking up on slightly more expensive, but quality staple pieces, I have created the perfect grab-and-go wardrobe to give off the illusion that even when I’m strung out on coffee and haven’t slept in three days, I look awesome.

Some might call my love of button-downs and skinny leg pants, “conservative,” but I prefer to see it as climbing up the latter to adulthood. Role models not only in style, but also in life, Audrey Hepburn and Olivia Pope inspire me to dress for success everyday. From their attitude to their nails, these classic icons reaffirm the need to be effortlessly polished and put together, in order to give themselves the best possible chance in pursuing anything they choose. Even Taylor Swift hid her belly button from the world for years! Despite having a model’s figure, she didn’t want people to focus on her body, but on her music. Therefore, it’s not being conservative, it’s being practical and smart. Plus, spending a tad more on decent materials makes my favorite items last at least two years longer than a knockoff I would find at Forever 21. Then again, I never pass on spicing up an outfit with trendy jewelry, like my quilted gold cuff and gold V-charm necklace, from their accessories section.

Curious how other students are conquering their campus wear? Be sure to check in every month to see UCF’s Fashionista/os in their element!
