STYLE GURU BIO: Elizabeth McBride

January 5th, 2016 at 2:00am

Hello old and new friends! My name is Elizabeth McBride and this is my third semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I cannot believe how fast the time has flown since I first started this amazing internship. My love for what CollegeFashionista is and what it stands for has only grown with each new semester. By being a Style Guru, I have been connected to so many incredible people and opportunities. I am currently studying psychology, theatre and marketing at Roger Williams University and can be found running to and from play rehearsals and classes with my ear buds in and coffee in hand.

Ever since I was a little girl, I had an interest in fashion. I remember wearing my mom’s pair of heels and walking across her bedroom as if it were a runway and I was Kate Moss. I remember ripping out pages of fashion magazines and putting them all over my bedroom walls. Fashion just spoke to me in a way that other things did not. Whether an article of clothing is Haute Couture or a pair of worn out jeans, fashion tells a story of who we are and what we represent. I like to use fashion as an aid to tell people a bit about myself without actually speaking. I love exploring trends and mixing and matching different pieces. Fashion is a great way to show your creativity and it is where I find that a lot of my creativity shines.

My style essentials change every now and then because I get bored easily and like to change things up. Lately I have been into skirts, button-down shirts, patterned pieces, boots, comfy leggings and boyfriend jeans. The skirt I am wearing has proven to be a real MVP and is something that I wear all of the time. I think the burgundy color is really unique and it goes with a lot of different shirts and sweaters that I own. I like to pair things together that you would not think would go together but do. I also recently started accessorizing with smaller purses that hold all of my daily essentials: wallet, keys, lipstick, phone and iPod.

I am more than excited to continue on my Style Guru adventure with the upcoming semester. I am looking forward to connecting with more people, reading everyone’s articles and becoming a stronger writer and photographer. Check out my articles every month to see what the stylish students of Roger Williams have to offer!
