STYLE GURU BIO: Diana Ordonez

My name is Diana Ordonez, and I am 21 years old. This fall, I will be a senior at the Fashion Institute of Technology where my chosen major is fashion business management. Within that major, I’ve chosen to specialize in buying and product development. I currently live in Queens, New York, and I consider it to be my home; however, I have had the amazing opportunity to travel and live in many places around the world. I can fluently speak English, Spanish and Italian, and I’m hoping to pick up another language as I know it will be extremely helpful for my career.

Currently, I am the visual merchandising assistant manager of the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Style Shop as well as a member of the Merchandising Society. I am also a blogger and have my own lifestyle, travel, and fashion blog which I created a little over a year ago.

I would describe my personal style to be mostly girly and a little chic. My favorite item of clothing are dresses. I own about 50 different dresses for every occasion. I also love wearing skirts with fun prints or colors and pairing with a simple top as well as a great accessory such as a statement necklace or clutch. I never go for a simple look; I like to make even a simple jeans and t-shirt outfit pop by either adding a bright colored or printed blazer or a nice pair of heels. In the winter, I love wearing ponchos and fun scarves.

My dream jobs range from being the visual merchandiser or creative director for Diane von Fursterberg, Oscar de la Renta or Bergdorf Goodman to being a buyer or product developer for a fashion brand at Target or Macy’s. I would also be interested in becoming a full time blogger or stylist as well as work for a magazine. Either way, I would love to experience them all in someway, and I am willing to take every opportunity I can get to learn and have an amazing career.

I am so excited to be a part of the Style Guru team this semester and I can’t wait to share my articles!
