STYLE GURU BIO: Darrell Major

“You cannot discover new oceans, unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” For this being my first semester as a Style Guru, I plan to take risks and achieve any challenges that comes my way. I am an just Island Girl from the Islands of the Bahamas, living in the city life of Los Angeles, California. I am Darrell Major, a second year student attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Downtown Los Angeles. My major is merchandise product development and I hope to achieve my career goal of being a creative director of my very own brand.

Who am I really, you may ask:  A natural born flower child that advocates love, peace, and simple, idealistic values. Fashion is my passion, cooking is my joy, and photography is my way of capturing all great moments in life whiles exploring new heights.  A creative and wise soul that loves just about all types of genres in music, art and dance. As your typical pisces girl, I am a dreamer but also a doer that is designing a life I will love one day.

I am a true believe that the best accessory anyone can wear is their “smile”, because it will never go out of style and it is always with you. Just like my personality, I would consider my style to be bold, colorful, and filled with nothing but good vibes. My favorite types of silhouette are loose and relaxing silhouette that aren’t extremely clingy to my body and in price.

In this bio look, I am wearing one of my favorite looks because it transitions so well from fall to winter, and the poncho can be worn with so many outfits. I choose this 2-way stole poncho featuring a pair of chunky heel ankle booties as the key pieces to my outfit. I decided to wear a basic smocked neck crop top underneath my poncho, along with my favorite mid-rise jeans that was cuff at the ankle. As a reminder, I do live in Southern California, so a “cold day” can be very bipolar over here and that’s why I am wearing a crop top to show a little bit of skin. To tie the look all together, I completed the look by adding a wool floppy hat, a pair of cat-eye sunglasses, a few charm bracelets and a leather saddle satchel handbag.

Well with being said, as a person I like to focus on the good and hope we all make it one day. Thanks for stopping by my RAD page at CollegeFashionista and feel free to check out more of my posts throughout the semester. I would appreciate your feedback in what I can do to share my “new oceans” of  fashion with you all!
