STYLE GURU BIO: Daisy Lucas

Hey there, fellow Fashionistas! My name is Daisy, and I’m from the ridiculously fab city of Melbourne, Australia. I’m currently in my final year of a Journalism degree at RMIT University, conveniently located in the heart of the vivacious lane ways and streets.

Although I live in the outer suburbs, Melbourne city is my home away from home. The colors of street art, the sounds of buskers, the smells of every food imaginable, the beautifully designed old buildings and, of course, the people – nothing inspires me and brings me to life quite in the same way.

I aspire to be the editor of a fashion and lifestyle magazine, à la the brilliant Anna Wintour, and I couldn’t be more excited to be getting my foot in the door with CollegeFashionista. Capturing what fashion means to the guys and gals around my campus? Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me!

I’ve always loved the way an outfit can make you feel as though you can be anyone you wish, and at the same time, exactly who you’re supposed to be. One of my favorite things about fashion is the ability to change my look entirely from one day to the next – it consistently challenges my idea of what true style really is. In the words of Blair Waldorf, “fashion is the most powerful art there is”.

On that note, a few haphazard facts about me: 1. I’m a die-hard Gossip Girl fan; inspired by Blair’s sass, her determination, classic outfit combos and the way she effortlessly commands a room. As for Serena van der Woodsen, she’s always been a style icon in my eyes. 2. The first stop on my travel hit list is New York (really, could it be anywhere else?) and I’m saving as we speak! 3. I’m a total health nut, so I’ll try any scary looking green concoction if I know it’s good for me. I also have the job of my dreams at active wear label Lorna Jane, with some of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met.

When I wander through the maze of Melbourne streets and masses of people, I’m always dreaming of something (mostly, the perfect pair of heels) with a coffee in hand and a book stashed in my bag, and the fashion I encounter never fails to get my mind buzzing with ideas. Today, I decided on this oh-so-Melbourne, black on black ensemble. I accessorized with my favorite gold hardware ankle boots and intricate jewellery, and added some monochrome texture with my lace shorts and pale grey coat.

I can’t wait to share with you the city I adore and all the #RAD Fashionistas I find within it!
