STYLE GURU BIO: Christina Rogado

Hello! My name is Teena and I am pleased to be working for College Fashionista this Fall 2015 semester. Some hobbies I enjoy include eating at new places, taking pictures, surfing through social media websites and singing. Some other random things I have an affinity for include the colors green and turquoise, pomeranians, acoustic music covers, planners, Studio Ghibli films and Disney movies.

Why did I decide to join the CollegeFashionista team? Well, there are a couple of reasons why I applied for this internship. However, before I get to those reasons, I just wanted to state that I honestly do not think I am the most fashionable person out there. Now don’t let that discourage you into thinking that I won’t be a good Style Guru; people tell me that my fashion sense is pretty good. But, the problem is that my fashion knowledge is limited: I do not know many brand names, how to do makeup, names of types of clothing and accessories, etc. Rather, I like observing how others take different fashion elements and combine them into an impressive look. In other words, I get inspired by people’s clothing, look for similarly styled pieces in stores and work those pieces into my own appearance. However, simply observing others and brushing aside all the fashion jargon won’t do in the long run.

As a result, the primary reason I decided to join this team is because I want to learn. I want to learn about different brands, how people do their makeup, how to keep up with trends and more. And I can learn so much more by connecting with Fashionistas/os on campus. The second reason why I joined CollegeFashionista’s team is because I simply enjoy photographing people. I have a DSLR, but want to learn more about its features and put it to good use during the school year.

As for my take on what exactly is fashion, I think fashion’s definition lies with its beholder. Like Rachel Zoe said, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” There are so many different people and styles out there. As long as you have a thoughtful reason as to why you put your look’s elements together, that is fashion. Fashion is an art form, a way of self-expression.

So, I hope y’all got a tiny cup of Teena as well as a glimpse of my internship goals for this semester. I’ll leave you with this outfit. It was inspired by my favorite colors from when I was younger, green and pink. I’ve listed the items and their brands below.

I look forward to learning and keeping you all updated about various fashion trends throughout the semester.
