STYLE GURU BIO: Cherileigh Co

Hey! I’m Cherileigh Co, but you can call me Cher. As a senior at Ryerson University in Toronto, I’m studying an undergraduate degree in journalism with a minor in public relations. This is my sixth semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, fourth semester as an editorial intern, and first semester as a lifestyle editor.

After Ryerson, I want to pursue a career in fashion journalism specifically print magazines. Despite the fact we are utterly immersed in the digital age, I believe print and online content can coexist and both are necessary for an enriching reader experience. My favorite publications are i-DThe Gentlewoman, ELLE Canada and Flare. I also love scrolling through Man Repeller and Chronicles of Her.

I’m infatuated with vintage fashion. My favourite decades for style are the 1970s and 1990s. In addition, I enjoy the music such as Fleetwood Mac, The Cranberries, Heart, Carpenters, Depeche Mode, and The Cure.

I paired my vintage-inspired Topshop dress with a fuzzy white coat from the WhoWhatWear collection at Target. Then, I accessorized with a black beret, small satchel from H&M and kitschy yellow-tinted glasses from Value Village. To complete my look, I wore my go-to black heeled Chelsea boots.

In addition to my monthly Style Guru articles, every week I plan to bring creative, useful and fun lifestyle articles by integrating my fervor for film, music and pop culture.

Unfortunately, this is my last semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I have appreciated my time so far with CF because of the countless opportunities to not only build my personal brand, but giving the tools to empower young and #RAD fashion writers.
