STYLE GURU BIO: Caterina Amaral

Hello Fashionista/o world! My name is Caterina Amaral and I am so excited to learn as much as I can from CollegeFashionista. This fall I’ll be your guide to everything Ryerson University situated in “The Six”, the endearing name Drake gave his hometown, Toronto. My friends, my city and my school inspired me to care more about presenting my style. I like clothes and shopping as much as most college kids, but most mornings I felt too sleepy to decide on a cute outfit or sometimes I felt uncomfortable with most of the clothes I collected over the few years. I think this is because my style is always changing. When I was nine years old I remember watching the movie Pirates of the Caribbean and loving it so much that I began to like more alternative styles.

In my tweens I liked the emo style, but what kid didn’t really? Throughout high school I started to like scene, grunge and punk styles all the while remaining a feminine tone. It has been three years since high school for me and my style is still developing itself. This time, I do not have a label on how I’m presenting myself. But I will say, the most distinct look about me is my gold hoop earrings and puffy curly hair.

Right now, all I know is that my interests and passions are changing now that I’m entering my third year studying journalism. The main reason I applied to one of the most reputable journalism school’s in Canada was to give a voice to the people of the Middle East by telling their stories. I still think it’s important to hear those stories, but I believe my passion for writing and news is heading in the lifestyle and Toronto-centric direction. That’s why I’m here to give you the latest!
