STYLE GURU BIO: Carly McBride

Hello, my name is Carly Mcbride. I am currently attending FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). Because of this, I am always surrounded by extremely stylish people and it inspires me. Growing up in New York, I’ve been surrounded by fashion. I fell in love with clothes in ninth grade. Most of my pieces were from the thrift store due to my lack of money. I didn’t let that stop me. I would customize my clothes and make them my own. I was known for how I dressed—bright colors and different textures. I’ve never really been that into patterns, but I’m definitely open to trying new things. I like to color block and have pop of colors in my garments or somewhere in my outfit.

I’ve gained a few pounds recently and I haven’t been so proud of my body, but my style boots my confidence. Oversized clothing makes me happy, and luckily for me, it’s in style. I love how it looks and how comfortable I am in each outfit. I’ve also grown to have a problem with my feet, so I always had to wear shoes that supported my precious babies. Thus my collection of sneakers was born. Because of this, my style fell into the girly tomboy category, and I love it.

For this look I was going for a comfortable, stylish street look. I picked out this long black bomber and based the rest of the outfit off the bomber. The bomber is from the thrift store (my favorite place to go). I paired it with black knee hole jeans and a silk knit turtleneck. To keep me warm I added a navy hoodie under the bomber. To finish off the look, I threw on my white Nike Air Force 1 sneakers, a black hat, and my crystal necklace. Wearing my hair out under the black hat added to the street style look I was going for.

Happy styling, and I hope you were inspired my this look. To get more looks, follow me on my social media!
