STYLE GURU BIO: Briana Ali

The artistic world captivated my spirit from the time I got my hands on my first set of crayons. You know, the really exciting 64-pack that every toddler dreamed of. Since then, I kept progressing through different art realms and mediums. I went from a tot coloring vibrant pages, to an adolescent learning my first instrument, to a teen painting anything my mind could imagine, to a woman in her 20s engulfed in a love for fashion. Of course, in between all that I dabbled with more arts, such as sculpting, glass fusing, graffiti (shhh), sewing and jewelry design. The list goes on, but all in all, I’m utterly obsessed with anything creative and artistic. And that’s one of the great beauties of life, too—creating and admiring creation. It’s all about your perspective and you can find artistic beauty in anything!

My name is Briana, but my friends call me Bri. If we are really close, you can call me bumble Bri! I’m a senior at Florida State University studying Retail Merchandising and Product Development with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I decided to pursue fashion as a career once I realized the way it excited my soul. That moment came at the age of 16 when I really started to study the fashion world on my own. High school was the time when I felt like I truly learned what fashion could be and how I could portray the body as a canvas and the clothing as the art to express myself. Before I began high school, I grew up wearing school uniforms for the majority of my life. So you could say my clothing collection wasn’t very versatile in my early days. Entering high school was a whole new world of freedom and creativity in the way that I dressed!

If I were to describe my style in a few words it would be whimsical, adventurous, bohemian and eclectic. I really feel that my fashion choices illustrate parts of my personality and the lifestyle I choose. Whether I’m catching a concert or having lunch with a loved one, I always feel excited to style what I’m going to wear to convey my thoughts and emotions. While the creative process is fun, fashion also allows a special transcendental love and confidence for oneself. I always think it’s important to dress for yourself and wear what makes you happy because at the end of the day, the happiness you can carry with you and radiate onto others is what matters.

My love for fashion is constantly growing. I love the way you can put together an outfit and communicate whatever you are feeling without saying a word. It’s like a poetic art radiating through textiles. With this love I decided to become a Style Guru at CollegeFashionista and share life’s everyday beauty with the world. Get ready for some eclectic fashion that students are wearing because I will be scouting high and low! Florida State University definitely has a lot of RAD dressing babes!
