STYLE GURU BIO: Becca Ray

May 28th, 2015 at 2:00am

Hi y’all! My name is Becca Ray and I like photography, not wearing shoes, tacos, exploring new places, fresh fruit and the Dawgs! I also enjoy traveling, staying up late, tea, the TV show Friends and fashion. Which is why I’m very excited to start writing for CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru.

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas until I made the big move to Athens, Georgia where I attend the greatest college, the one and only University of Georgia. GO DAWGS! It’s summertime so I guess that makes me a junior now and I’m majoring in Advertising with a minor in Fashion Merchandising.

I just returned from New York City where I participated in a “study tour” with UGA’s College of Family and Consumer Sciences exploring the ins and outs of the Fashion Industry. We visited and met with professionals at Nobland International, The Row (the Olsen Twins’ luxury brand) and Warby Parker to name a few. Since then I’ve come home to Dallas for a few weeks and then I’m headed back to the great city of Athens later this summer.

As I child, I loved playing dress up and picking out every little detail of an outfit. I would explore deep into both of my grandmothers’ closets to find an array of designers and beautiful pieces. They would generously let me try them on, even though I would drown under the clothes.

I’ve continued to discover new styles and brands I like to show off. I find inspiration through traveling, my friends, people on the street and much more. I love accessories, especially rings and you will never see me without at least five rings on. Besides my copious ring collection, some of my favorite go-to pieces would include my gray booties, a layered necklace, my Free People thermal top and a flowy dress.

Again, I’m so thrilled to join the CollegeFashionista family so check back every Thursday for something new from me!
