Hello, friends! My name is Amy Cardoza and I am a sophomore at Manhattan College. I grew up in a small town in southeastern Massachusetts, and I always felt I belonged somewhere bigger. Every time I would visit Boston or Providence with my parents, I knew the city was where I belonged. Nineteen years later, I embarked on a voyage to live in New York City and I have never been happier. I am currently a Communications and Journalism major and I hope one day to be able to share my writing with the world.

Living in New York, fashion is everywhere. A subway ride can feel like a runway. A simple stroll through Central Park can turn into a photo shoot. Fashion, like the city, is a living thing. It adapts and changes to fit its environment and sometimes it seems to have a mind of its own. My love affair with fashion and my love of New York are so similar because one cannot exist without the other. They are coexistent while remaining one in the same.

I love music and musical theater, so being a subway ride away from Broadway has been a dream come true. I adore film and television and my Netflix account and I have been spending way too much time together. I love comedy and my idols are Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling. My musical icons are Queen, Otis Redding and Beyoncé. I read as much as I can and I would love to work in a bookshop one day.

My personal style contains a lot of black and white, but I also love patterns. I love to accessorize with hats and jewelry to add a dash of color to my usual black and white style. I am less than five feet tall, so I love to add heels to an outfit to add some height. It’s hard to define my style because I draw inspiration from many different places and times. I love vintage fashion, but I also like adding a modern twist to vintage looks. Most importantly, I love to wear things that reflect my personality and make me feel confident about myself.
