Hey there, my name is Alyssa! This fall I will be taking my sense of style from Boston to Philly as I say goodbye to my childhood days in Massachusetts and enter adulthood at Villanova University. Despite saying goodbye to my family, friends and my spacious closet, I am looking forward to all the adventures that lay ahead. I use my environment as my fashion muse and I can’t wait to see all the new influences around me. Villanova has a reputation for being a Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines and Brooks Brothers oriented school. Although, you will find these looks on campus they are NOT the only ways to dress (I am not putting down any of those brands, as I enjoy them myself)! As a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, I am looking forward to sharing my “go-to” looks this season. So far, everyone on campus has been very friendly, which make me a little less nervous about approaching strangers for pictures.

I would describe my style as trendy-chic. I love trying new looks and learning what looks good on my body. Being 5’2 and having an athletic build can make it difficult to keep up with trends (a.k.a jumpsuits) that flatter my body type. However, I believe where there is a will there is a way and I have found a way to make certain trends work for us “shorties”.

The look that I am wearing is something I would normally wear to class or as an everyday casual look. The dress is something that does not cling to by body and allows for movement. I chose to incorporate fringe to my outfit with the booties. Whether you want to go with gold or silver jewelry is up to you. Usually I don’t like to mix and match, but in this situation I believe it works. The necklace, watch and bracelets add detail to the outfit. My mom bought me the “I love you to the moon and back” bracelet. It is my way of having her close to me while I am away at school. Lastly, the felt panama hat takes the outfit one step further to complete the look. I’m looking forward to sharing my love of fashion with all of you. Street style is everywhere, sometimes you just have to look at the world around you!
