STYLE GURU BIO: Alli Lorraine

Hey, Fashionistas/os! I’m Alli Lorraine, a first-year student at New York University studying Fashion Statistics and Market Analysis in the Gallatin School of Individualized Study.

I am so excited to spotlight my school’s most fashionable students as a Style Guru. I’ve been a faithful Fashionista since high school. I checked CollegeFashionista daily to explore the myriad of styles found at universities around the country. I envisioned myself as a Style Guru, stopping stylish students on the way to class and asking them about their wardrobe and how their style represents their personalities. Now I can do just that at NYU!

After following a school dress code for eight years, I’m so excited to show off my style at NYU, where countries all around the world are represented in our diverse student population. Every day is a fashion show. The city streets are our runways. I personally favor stylistic juxtapositions such as girly grunge or personalized pop culture. I’m a huge fan of the return of ‘90s fashion. I’m all about taking trends and making them my own. I look for inspiration everywhere, especially on my travels abroad. I’ve found beautiful jewelry in Tel Aviv, Israel and discovered my favorite camouflage scarf in Prague. Whether it’s in Frankfurt or Philadelphia, Vienna or Vermont or especially here in New York City, fashion inspires me. My go-to pieces for adventuring around the city include my trusty black leather jacket, a girly plaid skirt, a graphic T-shirt that I probably picked up at a concert and my black chunky heeled boots, which I wear everywhere.

When I’m not studying or in class, you can catch me working up a sweat at the gym, checking CollegeFashionista or The Business of Fashion website from my go-to spot in Washington Square Park or hitting up Best Pizza for a slice with some friends in Brooklyn.

I’m writing to giving the world a taste of New York City style, so keep checking my CollegeFashionista page. You never know what trend I’ll find next. For now, head over to my blog rock-the-frock.tumblr.com and follow me on Instagram, @rockthefrock_, to see how I translate trends in my own way.
