Hi everyone! I’m Alexia Rebing, some people call me Lexi and I will be reporting from Mexico! I’m a marketing and communications student about to go into my sixth semester. I’m so excited to be one of the newest additions to CollegeFashionista and I can’t wait for you to see all the great fashion styles I’ll be showing you in the upcoming months.
Ever since I was a little girl, working in the fashion industry has been on my mind. At first, I wanted to be a designer. I would draw dresses and shoes all over my notebooks and even on napkins. As I’ve grown up, I’ve realized that I’m more interested in the business side of fashion. I’d love to work in PR and/or fashion marketing.
When I realized I wanted to work in something related to fashion business, I started reading books such as The PR Couture Guide to Breaking Into Fashion PR by Crosby Noricks and Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht (great books by the way, I totally recommend them!). I even started my own fashion blog to get an idea of how everything works in this industry and to start building the career path I want to have one day.
Instagram is my favorite social media account without a doubt. I follow many amazing bloggers who have become a great influence on my personal style and who are such an inspiration. A couple of my favorite accounts are Kristina Bazan and Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook. There are also incredible Mexican bloggers! My favorite ones are Pamela Allier and Paola Alberdi.
Fashion in Mexico is not huge yet, but it’s been growing a lot in the past few years. I’ve had the opportunity to attend Fashion Week Mexico the last two seasons and I absolutely adore our designers. One of my goals is to get more people around the globe to know and buy Mexican fashion, because the talent these designers have is unbelievable.
Besides fashion my interests include traveling. I love how much you learn when you get to know a culture that’s completely different to yours. Besides Mexico, I’ve been in a lot of places in the United States, in Canada and in some Caribbean Islands. I hope to visit Europe soon! The past two summers I worked as a counselor in a summer camp and was able to make friends from all over the world and was an amazing experience. I’m also very much into dancing, photography and ice skating.
I hope you stick around because I can’t wait to share with you my love for fashion! Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram to stay updated and to give all my articles a #RAD!
