STYLE GURU BIO: Alexandra Barone

Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! What I am looking forward to most in this internship is capturing beautiful souls with their own unique style. A camera can capture a moment that no other medium can create. I am incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to begin my journey of becoming a fashion photographer and writer.

Here is the 411 on me: I am a junior at Kent State University with a major in fashion merchandising and minor in photo-illustration. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I believe clothes should be worn to express ones self. I was run over by a car and survived with no broken bones! I will be studying abroad this fall in Florence, Italy. Last but not least, I am an absolute tomboy at heart with a strong love for fashion.

I think it is crucial in anybody’s life to be true to who you are and what better way to express who you are than the clothes you put on your body. On a typical day I like to mix and match completely different styles. I guess you could say I have an eclectic personality.

Even when I am out riding four-wheelers, shooting at the gun range, or camping in the woods I like to make sure that my outfits are on point. I call this the outdoorsy nature-esque look. Then when I am out on the town with friends my style ranges from vintage to boho to edgy. Whenever you see me out and about you will most likely find me dressed in black, white and gray clothing. They are my trustworthy go-to colors.

To be honest, growing up I actually despised writing and now I cannot get enough of it! I write for my personal blog called The Soul’s Place where I share my thoughts and photography. I also write for another website that supports body positivity and the battle against eating disorders called Proud2bme. Now I am writing for CollegeFashionista! I write in journals to get my thoughts organized or just to vent. I am excited to meet new people through this internship and hopefully inspire a few people with my articles. You can find me in the Steel City aka Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania or Kent, Ohio. Ta-ta until next week!
