STYLE GURU BIO: Alex Cove

My name is Alex Cove and I’m a sophomore at Temple University in the beautiful city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I’m majoring in public relations hoping to pursue a career in journalism or social media (even though I still hold on to the dream of being a Broadway star or fierce superhero.) I’m embarking on my first year writing for CollegeFashionista and I can’t wait to see what this year has in store!

Although I love living in this city, my home is nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The contrast between my little hometown of Catawissa and the thriving metropolis of Philadelphia has left me a little unsure about who I am. While I’m still figuring myself out, I do know that I’m a hopeless romantic who easily falls in love with many things. Who you are is brought out in your guilty pleasures (except, I believe that there is no such thing as a guilty pleasure). On the list of “Things Alex Cove has figured out she likes”, the color white, spaghetti (carbs), carrots, show tunes, cats (specifically my feline, Kitty Minky), roses, the movie Frozen (Elsa is my muse), Christmas, Disney World, Rose Argan Body Conditioner from “Lush Cosmetics”, Cap’n Crunch, One Direction (call me Mrs. Niall Horan) and Dave Matthews Band are listed at the top.

Ever since I was little, I’ve always been described as a Fashionista. I have an eye for many different styles but always manage to add my personal flare and keep up with the trends. One thing I can say is that I don’t wear bright colors often; I usually stick to black, white, grey and neutrals. I do, however, add color to my wardrobe through accessories like I did in these pictures with my bag. I love dark, high-waisted skinnies (they are staples in my wardrobe), especially if they are a little distressed like the ones I wore! As for jewelry, I love dainty, gold pieces, especially my Marc by Marc Jacobs watch, which add just enough icing to an outfit. Simple, oversized tops are my always my go-to because they’re beyond comfortable. Tops like the one I’m wearing in these pictures take up a good chunk of my closet! I completed this outfit with one of my many pairs of booties because I love the extra height.

Unlike every other living creature on this earth, we humans express who we are inside with things we add outside. Although I may not know exactly who I am yet, I hope to inspire all of you reading my articles to express and OWN your true selves (“guilty pleasures”) through your style just like I’m trying to do!

I’m beyond excited to start this journey with CollegeFashionista and to share articles with you every month. Never forget that you can’t help being your totally RAD self, so believe in that self, and others will too.
