STYLE GURU BIO: Alejandra Fishman

Hello Fashionistas! My name is Alejandra and I’m so excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista for a second semester. I go to Kent State University in Ohio and major in fashion merchandising. I am originally from Puerto Rico, but have lived in Mexico as well when I was younger. This is now my third year at Kent State University and I cannot even comprehend how fast my time here has passed by. I am so excited to be showing you all the amazing style our Fashionistas have here at Kent State University throughout this semester.

When I’m not in the fashion building, you can catch me grabbing some coffee over at Dunkin’ Donuts or a cake pop from our local coffee shop, Tree City. I am also highly involved with Hillel, the Jewish student center on campus and my sorority as well as being a brand representative for Pura Vida Bracelets.

I draw inspiration from many places, people, events or time periods but my main influence most of the time is music. I tend to get my style trends and ideas from singers and what type of looks they are going for at the moment. I love the style of artists such as Lorde, Halsey and Nina Nesbitt, a singer-songwriter from Scotland. If I’m not inspired that day by an artist, I like to go with simple outfits that let me enjoy the day but make me feel good in them.

With this outfit, I went with the off-the-shoulder trend that I am loving right now. This top is effortless, chic and sophisticated without trying too hard. Paired with some classic blue jeans I added embellished flats to the look and a simple shoulder bag that brings out the edgier side of me a bit more than the rest of the look.
