STYLE GURU BIO: Alanta Slone

Hello, my lovely Fashionistas/os!

I’m excited to be back again for the spring semester. My name is Alanta Slone and I’m a sophomore at Columbus College of Art and Design. This is my second semester with CollegeFashionista! I major in fashion design and minor in business. I almost always have my inspiration journal in my hands ready to be inspired. I am a huge believer in loving yourself first, coffee, and positive vibes. Aside from school, I currently run my own fashion and lifestyle blog, known as ChicOneFour.

I recently won a case study scholarship, so over my winter break I was invited out to NYC for a Kohl’s design office tour, an awards gala with some of the biggest names of fashion, and an internship fair. Let me just say, the fashion industry never ceases to amaze me. The opportunity to just go was amazing itself. At the gala a speaker reminded me that life is all about inspiring people. The fashion industry is the perfect example of that. We inspire people to be themselves. Fashion is beyond just clothes; it tells our stories and is who we are.

My personal style has shifted this past semester. I have really been trying to morph my style into a more minimalistic kind of way. I would say that I have a very urban edge to my style still, and every once in a while I bring out a girly side with a floral print or some hints of blushes. But for the most part you can find me in some neutral tones. Lately, I have been obsessed with my blanket scarf and brown parka coat to keep me warm. My go-to shoes have been my all black booties. I love how they add an effortless chic look to any outfit. Hopefully I inspire some of you this semester with my style and articles.
