STYLE GURU BIO: Abby Miller

First thing’s first, here’s a quick summary of myself. My name is Abby Miller, I am a sophomore at Salisbury University, I study elementary education and mathematics, and this is my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista.

Fashion, although not having anything to do with my major, has become a huge part of my daily life. Ever since I was little I always admired fashion and beauty, but that love changed from admiration to exploration in high school. I began trying out new styles and looks for myself and fell in love. It’s exciting to surround myself with so many unique pieces of fashion that can, without any words (except maybe on a graphic tee),  so easily describe my personality.

The best part of fashion to me? There really are no rules. Sure, some people might say you “can’t” wear certain things together but if it’s what you want to do then no one can stop you. For example, I have been told by multiple people that I shouldn’t wear sneakers with dresses or skirts, that sneakers ruin a dressy outfit. However, if I’m wearing sneakers with a dress or a skirt, I’m not going for dressy. I’m going for a casual yet still put-together look.

In the outfit I’m wearing I did exactly that. I chose my Adidas Superstars to keep myself comfortable but not overdone for a casual affair. For the main part of my outfit, I picked out my favorite off-the-shoulder, black-and-white striped sweater from American Eagle Outfitters and paired it with a black skirt from BooHoo. To go along with the black and white theme, I wore my Calvin Klein handbag over my shoulder to keep it classy. Then to break up the amount of black and white I had going on, I threw my DIY denim jacket on top. The denim brought subtle color to the look while the patches and pins added a fun and different flare. Another statement accessory I paired with this outfit was my necklace. You can catch me in a choker almost every day—they are most certainly a staple piece for my wardrobe. This statement choker, from American Eagle Outfitters, is great for making any look edgier than before which is why I chose it for this outfit.

I am beyond excited to have another opportunity to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team this semester and can’t wait to see what it has in store for me! If you want to stay up-to-date on future articles, feel free to follow me on my social media and check out my latest posts.
