Hi my name is Abby Bresler and I am so excited to start my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! I am a sophomore, art history major at the University of Southern California. Art and fashion have always been two passions of mine and seeing how they come together in a unique way here in Los Angeles has been an incredible experience. I grew up in downtown Chicago, so moving to LA for college last year was a huge transition. My favorite things to do here are shop and explore in different neighborhoods because each one has its own style. I love going to art museums and galleries on the weekends, hiking with my friends, and going to concerts all over the city.

I would consider myself to be a jacket and sneaker addict. No matter what store I go into or person I see on the street, my attention is immediately drawn to great jacket designs and wild sneaker styles. I use sneakers to anchor any outfit. I love them because they can be worn with any look and can add an edgy touch to even the most girly style. For me, sneakers are how I add my own personal expression to any look I am putting together. I can add a pop of color with an awesome pair of blue and white creepers or I can replace a black bootie with a pair of high top black leather sneakers.

My favorite combination with any sneaker to complete a look is the perfect jacket. My closet is filled with bomber jackets ranging in color and design, biker jackets in leather and suede, and classic jean jackets. Living in Los Angeles, a jacket is a great accessory to any outfit—it’s a must have even when it’s 75 degrees outside. Los Angeles has a completely different vibe than Chicago when it comes to fashion. I am inspired everyday to expand my sneaker and jacket collection with new styles that I see on the street and around campus.

For my bio look I chose an outfit that obviously revolves around a pair of sneakers and my favorite bomber jacket. I remember seeing this army green jacket at Topshop when it first came out and instantly loving it. I didn’t have any other jacket like it and knew it would become a staple in my wardrobe; it was my first bomber jacket. The color is subtle enough to not be distracting but just enough to give any outfit some pop. I paired the look with simple black leather jeans and platform satin black sneakers for contrasting textures. I love these shoes because they can dress up an athleisure look or keep a little black dress casual for any occasion. This look is perfect for Los Angeles winter because the jacket is warm enough and the sneakers add an easy and comfortable personal touch. I can’t wait to share and inspire more style advice this semester!
